Crash Course

(Formerly the Basic Skills Course for Rheumatology Trainees)

Each year we invite new Rheumatology trainees from across Canada to beautiful Vancouver in early July, to attend our Crash Course in Rheumatology in the company of their future colleagues.
The Crash Course in Rheumatology (formerly the Basic Skills Course for the Rheumatology Clinical Fellow) is a week-long course designed for new Rheumatology trainees, to provide them with a comprehensive background in the basic clinical and academic skills required in rheumatology training. We started it in 2001 as a small 3-day basic crash course for our own new trainees, and it has now grown to a comprehensive one-week course open to new Rheumatology trainees from across Canada (and open to trainees from other countries upon request).

The 2023 Crash Course will an in-person event from July 4 to July 7, 2023. From Tuesday thru Friday, numerous faculty from UBC Rheumatology, and the occasional guest speaker, cover topics ranging from a rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthropathies, to Indigenous Health. Please check this page regularly for updates.

The 2023 CRASH COURSE registration is open.

To register, please email UBCRheum.Admin@ubc.ca. The course will be open to all new Rheumatology trainees scheduled to start in Rheumatology in July (offset starting residents are accepted as well – contact your program administrator for approval).  Course registration fee is $200 per resident and is usually refundable or covered by your home rheumatology program.
